Leaders in corporate social responsibility
Since 2002 we have adopted and maintained a responsible approach to business, our corporate social responsibility (CSR) and community involvement strategy is intrinsically linked to our business plan, and has delivered clear business benefits.
In 2007 we were recognised by Business in the Community (BITC) as Small Company of the Year – a national example of excellence for responsible business in small companies. You can read the full BITC case study here. Having achieved 34th in the Deloitte Technology Fast 50, we can demonstrate that business can be responsible and highly successful.
Drivers of CSR for Academy Internet – we are committed to CSR because we believe that responsible business is good business. We know it differentiates Academy Internet but importantly, it helps us to recruit, retain and motivate our high quality people. You can read more about our recruitment here. As we only have a small budget, we focus our limited resources into maintaining five key, sustainable partnerships with our key partners in the local community:
Brighton and Hove Business Community Partnership (BHBCP)
www.bhbcp.org.uk
BHBCP helped us to develop our CSR strategy in 2005, and they link us to local projects and activities such as
painting a mural at a local community centre.
Action for Change www.action-for-change.org
We are working with Action for Change, a local charity which provides support and advice about drug and alcohol abuse, to deliver an e-learning programme for professionals working with people with
such issues.
Young Enterprise www.yese.org.uk
We deliver tailored workshops on subjects such as entrepreneurship to Young Enterprise members such as a local Falmer School.
University of Brighton www.brighton.ac.uk
For the top digital media students, we offer a fully paid year’s placement in our Internet Marketing team, which in turn helps us to recruit talented individuals of a high calibre. We also provide speakers, sponsorship and pro bono advice to the University with an aim of making Academy Internet the first port of call from talented students in digital media. See what some of our placement programme alumni say about us.
Sussex Wildlife Trust www.sussexwt.org.uk
Our mutually beneficial partnership involves us providing Internet marketing expertise in order to promote the Trust. This includes a regular member newlsetter as well as one day a month revenue generatng strategy. In return, the Trust have given us corporate membership which includes a whole host of benefits.
